Accreditation for the universities of applied sciences in Switzerland
The Accreditation System in the domain of the universities of applied sciences is based on the partial revision of the federal law on the universities of applied sciences. The revised law, in particular the new Article 17a implements the accreditation of universities of applied sciences and their programmes.
Since the beginning of 2008 the OAQ is officially recognised as an Agency for the accreditation of universities of applied sciences. In January 2013 the OAQ has been recongnised for 5 more years as accreditation agency for Swiss UAS and their study programmes. This decision of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) is valid until the new law on Higher education LAHE enters into force.
The OAQ carries out accreditation procedures, whilst the decisions are taken by the EAER. The new decision allows to submit the complete expert report for feedback by the examined instution. This means that OAQ has reached an important objectif. Moreover, more detailed information about accomplished procedures will be published on the OAQ website.
