Basic Medical Education
The MedBG contains the following definition: “Basic medical education provides the foundation for practice in the medical profession concerned.”
The Federal Law on Medical Professions (MedBG) dated June 23, 2006 prescribes accreditation for degree programs that lead to a federal diploma. This refers to courses in human medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine, as well as pharmaceutics and chiropractics.
Accreditation procedures for academic medical education started in 2010 and have to be concluded by 31 August 2012.
